Walt Disney World's hospitality goes viral after a young girl had to abandon her balloon to enter one of the major theme parks.

Stephanie McCarty said on LinkedIn over the weekend that her daughter had to register a balloon with guest services in order to enter Disney's Animal Kingdom because balloons are not allowed there because they “scare the animals.”

She was told to pick it up at the end of the day.

“When we went to pick it up at the end of the day, we not only got our balloon back, but we also got a full report of what the balloon had been doing while it was away from my daughter,” McCarty wrote. “What I liked most about this particular experience was how they took a situation that they knew would be awkward (if you've ever tried to take a balloon away from a toddler, you know exactly what I'm talking about!) and found a way to make it less awkward.”

The service is called “Balloon Daycare” and is only offered in Animal Kingdom of the four major parks.

According to Disney's prohibited items list, balloons are not permitted in Disney's Animal Kingdom, the water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports, or Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge (Kidani Village and Jambo House).

McCarty's post has received over 5,100 interactions and 325 comments on the social media platform, with many praising the company for its hospitality and attention to detail.

“When we went to Disney, my two-year-old was playing with the phone in our hotel room and accidentally called guest services,” one person wrote. “When guest services answered a child, it was transferred to Goofy who chatted with him. Amazing.”

“Forgot the branding, this is just touchingly human,” wrote another.

McCarty said the experience inspired her to “look for the same opportunities” to turn unpleasant experiences into something positive.

“What I liked most about this particular experience was how they took a situation that they knew was going to be awkward (if you've ever tried to take a balloon away from a toddler, you know exactly what I'm talking about!) and found a way to make it less awkward,” she added.
